Sharing of Qualitative Data: Trends, Tools and Best Practices for Research Transparency Online
Data Sharing is a new scholarly imperative. Many funders and journal publishers are requiring researchers to make data available to the research community. However, these requirements are focused on quantitative data. As a result, researchers may not be prepared to share qualitative data in a way that complies with ethical standards and IRB approvals, and may not be aware of tools and resources created to facilitate the sharing of qualitative data.
This seminar will explore key issues in qualitative data sharing and ways to share data responsibly. Topics will include:
- Overview of trends and challenges in sharing and publishing qualitative data
- Best practice of responsible data sharing
- Data management planning
- Major qualitative data repositories and services provided
- Resources available at Hopkins
